Take charge of your mental wellness and transform your life. Overcome challenges and uncover the strengths that lie within you.
Are you struggling to manage your mental health challenges? Do you feel overwhelmed by symptoms of ADHD, trauma, anxiety, or depression, leaving you uncertain about how to care for yourself or handle daily responsibilities? Perhaps you feel like your life is spiraling out of control, as if you're going crazy, unable to manage even one more thing, or struggling to find effective tools that work for you.
Maybe you're navigating complex life changes or adjusting to a chronic illness, feeling unsure, isolated, or even devastated. You might feel like you're barely surviving, struggling to establish routines that suit you, find tools to adapt to changes, or cope with seemingly debilitating issues.
Do you want to move beyond merely surviving and start thriving? Are you seeking control and healthy relationships but feel blocked by past trauma, attachment issues, or a lack of clear boundaries? Do you wish to build confidence and independence in your mental wellness but need guidance to identify your struggles, recognize your strengths, and cultivate healthy habits that work for you?
Your life doesn’t have to be this hard or overwhelming!
My name is Starla Willis, MA, LMHC, CMHS, ADHD-CCSP. I am an approved supervisor and licensed mental health counselor. As an empathetic and dedicated counselor, I also provide clinical supervision to new associates and consulting to seasoned counselors. I bring a unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience to my practice and the care of my clients.
Above all, I am a mother, a role that shapes both my personal and professional life. The realization that we only have 18 summers with our children inspired me to pursue private practice. This allows me to prioritize myself and my family so I can give more to my practice and my clients. My son and I enjoy camping and hiking with our rescue dog, Bella. With my husband, the three of us enjoy riding in the dunes, and we have an SXS racing team. They run the RZR 1000 in drag racing and obstacle courses, while I manage the data and serve as the crew chief for repairs. At home, we enjoy taking care of our house and vehicles, gardening, and relaxing with our cat, Romeow.
I am a survivor of a long history of abuse and neglect. I have worked on my own mental health and wellness to a point where I feel I am truly thriving. Recently, however, I have been diagnosed with a chronic illness that impacts every area of my life. With my experience in healing and learning to live with trauma, I have been able to adjust to managing life with a chronic illness as well. I wouldn’t say I am thriving in this area yet, but I have every intention of getting there.
A focus on solutions and creativity fuels my life and work. I love solving problems and learning, and I enjoy painting, drawing, and crafting. I often incorporate my artistic expression into therapeutic tools for my clients. From research and reading to watercolors and miniatures, to writing and bullet journaling, I embrace creativity as a pathway to self-discovery and mental wellness. I even use my journals for meal planning, health, gardening, and personal growth, and have a special one just for my memory!
In my counseling practice, I combine evidence-based techniques with a compassionate and collaborative approach, guiding clients toward control, resilience, confidence, and lasting change. My goal is to empower individuals to find their strengths and lead fulfilling lives.
My mission is to help clients find control, peace, and enjoyment in their lives. I specialize in treating depression (including self-harm and suicidal thoughts), anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)—including challenges related to parenting with PTSD—and ADHD in both teens and adults. My expertise also extends to attachment disorders and living with chronic illness.
I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, and art therapy. My work emphasizes development, emotional growth, boundaries, relationships, and environmental influences. With extensive training and experience, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and an ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP) committed to supporting individuals aged 16 and up, of all brain types.
I believe in empowering my clients to take control of their mental wellness and their lives. My goal is to help you discover your strengths, find tools to better manage your life, build healthier relationships, and create positive changes that last. I work best with individuals motivated to make meaningful changes, who value honest feedback, and actively engage in the counseling process by attending sessions, setting goals, and practicing strategies between sessions.
Ultimately, I see my role as helping you build the confidence and skills to manage your life and mental health independently. If you’re ready to start your journey toward healing and growth, I encourage you to reach out.
Let’s work together to achieve your goals.
